BRIEF
We were chosen by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to deliver a suite of videos for its annual awards ceremony. It needed a main video to open the evening, shorter videos to accompany award categories and coverage of the night itself.
CONCEPT
With a brief to inspire the audience, we focused on the opening video, which would set the tone for the evening. Our solution was to write a script to be delivered by actors, that featured an older construction worker showing an apprentice how construction makes a difference to every part of our lives. By using a similar approach with the subsequent suite of award category films, we ensured that mood was maintained throughout the evening.
CREATE
Our emotive script was set to a series of inspiring scenes for which we used extras to represent “real lives”, along with aerial and stock footage. We used stirring music to add drama and inspire pride in our audience. With multiple films to make, we created a shooting schedule that would allow us to film for all the content simultaneously so our client’s budget was being used effectively. Ahead of the night itself, we worked alongside the event company to ensure everything went smoothly, sharing resources so that we had the best content with which to make the events highlight film. That film was edited overnight and delivered for use the following morning.
CONNECT
The launch film made an immediate connection with the audience, with some guests welling up with pride as they watched it. It has been shown extensively since, to inspire similar reactions with other audiences. The highlights film had 1,300 views in its first 24 hours. Our client told us “The video pieces absolutely made the show and were everything we had envisaged. It’s a real pleasure working with all the team at Dependable”
