Hinkley Point C 2025

Hinkley Point C 2025

The Brief

Each year Hinkley Point C (HPC) challenges us to produce a film that reflects the progress made on what is one of the biggest construction sites in Europe. This time, they asked us to create a film that showed how they were “getting the job done” 24/7, 7 days a week. We decided to film at night to show how, even when others sleep, progress continues on site and beyond.

Our Approach

Trying to cover multiple teams at work over one night on such a vast site would be impossible so, we planned to film over 3 nights. However, even then there were clashes, so we embedded two crews to work simultaneously. HPC worked hard to ensure great access to the work happenning on site on the ground, as well as above and below it. We ensured we captured those who keep this well-oiled machine running smoothly: cleaners, caterers and more. We even filmed the teams offsite who keep the supply chain moving. We filmed ground and aerial shots of the activity and recorded the natural sound of activity and conversations to really immerse the viewer in what was happenning. The action was held together by carefully scripted but minimal narration from the project’s construction director Rob Jordan.

The Result

Despite filming in some of the worst winter weather, we managed to capture some fantastic footage that really demonstrated how hard people are working to get this site built.  The natural sound we recorded really helped to absorb the audience in the progress and the figures show the impact it had. An amazing 1.5 million views in the first month of release!
